We took a quick trip down to St. George with some of the Robins family last weekend to see The Little Mermaid at Tuacahn. We missed Richard and Corby (who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their little girl any day now) and Glen and Liz (who had planned to come, but Glen ended up recovering from some out-patient surgery instead). So it was us, the Crowthers, the Bowlers, and - as a happy little coincidence - the Owens, who were passing through on their way to Salt Lake and decided to hang out with us for the night.
I hadn't been planning on going to the play since babies aren't allowed, but Mike and Jamie offered to watch Calvin so I was able to go. It was a last-minute decision, and I felt bad about leaving Calvin, but I'm glad I went. I'd never been to Tuacahn before. It was a beautiful evening, and the play was really nice. But most of all I was glad to see how much the girls were enjoying it. About 19 minutes into the 20 minute intermission, Londyn said she needed to go to the bathroom. I grumbled something about telling me that 19 minutes ago , then got up to take her. But then the lights went down and the music started, and she said "Oh Mom - it's starting. Nevermind. I'll just have to hold it." Which she NEVER says. So that kind of told me just how much she was enjoying the play.
The next morning we swam in the pool at the hotel and then we walked around the St. George temple grounds for a while before heading home. Another place I'd never been. It was beautiful! The flowers were gorgeous and the whole place smelled heavenly from their fragrance. We went through the visitor's center and walked through the grounds. There were several wedding parties that morning which are always fun to watch. And also a great chance to talk to my girls about getting married in the temple.
If I had to guess, I'd put the number of times I've driven through St. George in the hundreds. But I don't think I've stopped for more than a bite to eat. I could definitely see us making Tuacahn an annual tradition for our family. Even though it was a short, quick trip, sometimes it's nice to just get away and actually feel the distance from everyday life.

I love Tuacahn. I really want to take Kevin there. Grease is there right now, and he hates Grease, so I keep teasing him that I'm going to get tickets for that show. My parents live close to St. George, so I'm waiting for a show I think he'll like, and we can easily drop kids off and go. I'm glad you guys had a nice time!
