A few weeks ago my kids were invited to Grandma's house for "Cousins Camp." They did this once before in Las Vegas and had such a good time. They were definitely excited for the second go 'round. I'll have to steal some photos from my mom since I was only there for 2 of the 4 days. (Yes, this means I was kid-less for 2 days and nights. I wish I could say it was miserable, but . . . it wasn't.)
My mom had her friend in Vegas print up these t-shirts with little caricature of each kid on the front. They also came in handy for finding the group in a crowd!
I'll let my mom summarize the week, since I was only there for part of it. (This is from her weekly letter that week.)
Tuesday we made stick horses for all the kids and then went on a trail ride. We also made a
poster, went to the library, and rode bikes. Wednesday we made play-dough cookies, the older
kids went to the library to make robots, we went swimming at the South Jordan rec center, and
had a movie night that night. Thursday we went to the farm at Thanksgiving Point, had a picnic,
got ice cream cones, then came home and made a movie and did a craft. Friday we attempted
bubble painting (that didn’t turn out so good, but the kids still had fun with it), went swimming at
the rec center again (the kids loved that!) and decorated some “treasure boxes”. That night we
had the parents come for a final night and banana splits. The kids were really good all week and
we had a really good time.
You can kind of see why the kids loved it so much. And why my mom was exhausted by the end of the week.
My mom spent a TON of time getting ready for the week, and obviously a ton of time during cousins camp itself. Whenever I told people where my kids were they said my mom was crazy. Which may be kind of true. But she claims to love it. I think she knew just how happy it made the kids and that's why she loves it. But she's still a little crazy.
Thanks again for the memorable week Mom. The kids had a blast and I'm sure they'll be talking about it for a loooooong time.
Oh, and since it shouldn't go undocumented, may I present Londyn singing the official 2009 Cousins Camp Song:

How fun is your mom! Londyn is such a sweetie, you definetly needed to document that...
Here Here! Mom's the best! :)
What an amazing grandma! I'm sure your kids will have the best memories from "cousins camp." I love that idea. I think I will mention that to my mom. With two one year olds it would probably be "cousins" day!
Oh. My. Word! Your mom is the best! How cute of her and also what a treat for you! And little Miss Londyn...what a doll. She's so smart to have it completely memorized...and you can understand it. You must be doing something right with those kiddos because my mom always tells me how smart Jacey was when she had her in nursery a few different times.
Your mom is AMAZING! That is such a cute idea! I love it! What awesome memories those cousins will have! And the shirts are the icing on the cake! And Londyn is SO stinkin' cute signing the counsin song. LOVE IT!
I LOVE the cousins camp song!
That song was the cutest thing I have ever heard. I want to come to cousins camp next year.
Call me crazy if you want, but I LOVED IT!! The kids were so fun and I really enjoyed them! Londyn is so cute singing that song...I was amazed at how quickly she learned it.
Oh my gosh. Londyn is so stinkin cute with that song. I love your mom. I bet she is the best grandma ever.
I love that your Mom does this for all the cousins! So fun that they live close by to be such great friends! And oh my gosh that song is AMAZING!! Love her, love the song, I plan on playing that again so I can learn it as well! So cute!
Good grief! All the grandmas in the world have now been put to shame! That camp sounded absolutely amazing!-- and Londyn's song was the cutest thing I've ever seen. I wonder if I could pay to have Adam's kids come next year and be cousin's to yours.
What a fun idea! I'm going to have to tell my mom about that. Only 13 is a lot of kids. I love the song of Londyn singing...adorable. Your mom's great!
