So Will and I have been saying forever that we should make a cake. Just for fun. Will is creative and artistic, and I wanted to see what he would come up with. We thought it would be fun to do together. So Friday night for our date night we did a little shopping and a little googling and started a cake. 24 hours and 4 time-outs later (the girls wouldn't quit eating the frosting) this is what we came up with.
The purple was kind of an accident (I didn't realize the food coloring was quite that strong) but Londyn loved it since purple is her favorite color. Will is responsible for the decorating - I was pretty impressed. Hey for our first time I was pretty impressed that it didn't collapse! It didn't taste great but it wasn't terrible either - it just tasted like generic wedding cake, which isn't that tasty to begin with in my opinion. Anyway, it was fun! I think we'll do it again someday!

Those are awesome! But you must know you are starting to irritate me. Must you be so talented?? HA! I love decorating cakes, but certainly can't do that type of decorating.
Oh My holy crap!! Why don't you live closer so you can make one of those for my girls birthdays!! Fabulous!! You are quite the team you little talented people you!! AWESOME!!:) Who cares if they didn't taste good they look fantastic!
What a fun idea! You look FABULOUS....
Yeah- Could you two BE more talented! I have to agree, it isn't fair.. The cakes look AMAZING! I think you two should start up a cake decorating and photography business.
Those are awesome! You are very talented!!!
Okay, if you all had ever heard me sing you wouldn't be quite so quick with the T word. Seriously though, this was all Will. I pretty much just sat there and watched him. I read somewhere that fondant was "like play-dough for grown-ups" and I knew Will would be good at it. :)
I thought the cake tasted good as well as looking great. :)
Holy Moly. You guys are good! I think Will should quit his job and you two can go into the wedding business (for both photography and cakes). I'll hire you for Reese....BUT only if you'll sing too. ;) You guys are cute. Tom and I need to be more fun and do more interesting things together for date nights.
I know Reese has a boyfriend and all, but I'm not talking anytime soon!
They are so great! When i grow up I want to be a wedding cake decorator... amongst a lot of other things. ha ha. Can I play the next time you guys break out the fondant?
I am very impressed. Where were you two when I was baking 140 cupcakes? Two master decorators would have been very useful! You should reawlly do that as a side job (another one)!
Great work!! Those cakes are so pretty and who cares what they taste like anyway, it's all about how they look!!! That's just me...I'm not a cake lover. They're adorable!
I think you're ready for the next Food Network challenge! Or perhaps you can give "Ace of Cakes" a littel competition! I'm impressed, especially since my only experience with fondant if finding my sister sitting on her kitchen floor crying because she couldn't make it work for her husband's bday cake. Next time I'm calling you!
Cynthia - what can't you do? I don't believe you about the singing. You could do a whole wedding service complete with cake and photography. And by the way, we had a wedding cake with that kind of frosting, and I didn't think it tasted that great, so it's not your fault that you didn't like the cakes. They look amazing, and that's all that matters.
Wow, amazing! Are you for hire?
