It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole decade since this cutie was born!
She is such an amazing kid! Not to mention beautiful!
Birthday breakfast – french toast with strawberries and whipped cream. (Jacey trivia: she doesn’t love maple syrup.)
Calvin, Oakley and I joined Jacey for lunch in the cafeteria. She asked us to bring Cafe Rio and I’m wondering if she did that just to make all of the other kids at the table jealous, because it certainly accomplished that. I lingered for a while on my way out the car and watched Jacey and her friend Eliza do jump rope tricks for me. She has made a lot of good friends this year and I think she has mixed feelings about going back to A track next year. She will certainly be back with some good friends from 3rd grade but she’ll be leaving a few very good friends from 4th grade too.
Jacey was very specific that we celebrate her birthday on her actual birthday. Fine by me! The concept of dragging birthdays out and celebrating them when it’s convenient is always a bit strange to me. It was a family birthday year for Jacey, and she wanted to go to Boondocks. Will took the afternoon off and met us there. This is the only picture I took while we were there – an attempt at a family selfie.
We stopped for a hamburger for dinner and then met Jacey’s Grandparents back at our house for cake and ice cream and presents.
I gotta say, I love family birthday years. I know the kids love their friend parties, and that’s why we do them. But if I had my way, every year would be a family party. I love spending time with these guys. We have fun together.
I’ve also gotta say, I can’t believe Jacey is about to start 5th grade. 5th grade seems so . . . not a little kid. Last night Jacey came in from a fun night out with Will and Londyn and bounced into my room, jumped up on the bed and started to tell me all about it. I got a little flash-forward to her teenage, dating years. I wonder if she’ll still come tell me all about her nights. I hope so. (Londyn, however, is more like me – she same home, said it was really fun, and went to bed.)
Jacey, I hope 10 is your best year ever. Love you to the moon and back. :)
