Birthday Season

It’s birthday season at the Robins house.  Calvin’s was last week, Will’s is this week.  Then Londyn and I in September.  So what better time to jump back to May and recap Jacey’s 9th, right?  (Bad blogger mom.)

This was a “friend party” year for Jacey, but she is getting to that age that she would rather go do something fun with a few friends than have a balloon-and-streamer fest at our house.  So we invited our cousins and a neighbor friend to join us at Planet Play for some fun and games.  Unfortunately her friend couldn’t make it, but we still had a lot of fun with all of her cousins – who are really her best friends anyway.

IMG_0927We (somewhat foolishly) partook of the pizza buffet, complete with all-you-can-eat soft serve.

DSC_5628On her actual birthday, she requested stuffed french toast with fruit – a family favorite – for her birthday breakfast.

DSC_5633We had the family over again that night for cake and ice cream.  She requested “that huge chocolaty cake from Costco” for her birthday cake.  Fine by me!

DSC_5640   She got spoiled with lots of fun gifts from everybody.  Her request from Will and I was a set of rollerblades.  She’s still getting the hang of them, but she’s done pretty well.

DSC_5646There’s no denying that Jacey is growing up.  She has an opinion about what clothes I can buy for her.  She’s read the Harry Potter series about a dozen times.  She’s got just a touch of sass and sarcasm in her voice.  But still, she is one of the best kids on the planet.  She is kind and thoughtful and a good friend.  She is such an amazing help to me, especially this summer as I had to learn how to be mom to 4.  She was crucial to me keeping my sanity.  There were days when she would make lunch, put Calvin down for a nap, then clean up the downstairs, all while I nursed Oakley and all without being asked.  She’s back in school now – 4th grade – and I miss her.   She says she doesn’t like school but I can see through her.  She loves her friends.  She loves leading the “game crew” at recess.  She loves being in the middle of things.  She loves having a new teacher and new experiences.  She’s getting ready for soccer season to start – Will’s her coach this year.  She wants to be a part of the Student Council.

Hope it’s a great year, Bug.  Hope all your wishes come true. :)

It's so nice to have big sisters around to help with the babies. What a sweet girl.

Can I adopt her for a little while?! At least for the next few months? What a sweetheart!

I had no idea you had so many birthdays so close together. That's gotta make for some busy times. Well a big happy birthday to most of your family!
