Jacey turned 8 at the end of May and BOY was she excited. Not for her birthday though - for her baptism. She has been waiting for this day for a LONG time. She made a paper chain to count down the days.
Jacey set a goal to read the entire Book of Mormon before her baptism. It look a little cramming towards the end, but she did it. I was so proud of her! What’s more, I was proud of how much she understood and internalized what she read. We have been reading as a family for the past few months, and she frequently answers Londyn’s questions before Will or I have a chance to.
We went with Jacey to meet with the bishop. He spent a lot of time talking about the specific promises we make when we are baptized, and the specific blessings we are promised when we make that choice. Jacey has internalized that discussion too, and she really understands what she has covenanted.
There were a lot of children being baptized that day, so the actual service was pretty busy and crowded. And we (Jacey’s family) made up a good chunk of that crowd! We are so lucky/blessed to have such a supportive and loving family!
This was a Mom-Payday for me. I was pretty emotional watching Will take Jacey’s hand and lead her down into the font. And helping her change and get ready afterwards was special for me. I just kept thinking about how the next time she is required to be dressed in white for an ordinance, it will be in the temple. And I kept thinking about standing by her side again as a grown woman, helping her prepare to make sacred covenants there as well. It’s kind of hard to think about without getting emotional. I’m just so grateful for this good, good little girl. She deserves a better mother, but I’m grateful that Heavenly Father sent her to me. I need her.
We had everybody over for a barbeque afterwards at my mom and dad’s house, and we all had a good time visiting and eating and just enjoying this special day.

She read the whole Book of Mormon?! That is incredible! I just love all these pictures of her with all your family. She really is such a pretty girl! I can only imagine how emotional this would all be for you. Especially with how seriously she took it all. Impressive little girl, to say the least.
