Overdue Update

I'm not sure why I have been so absent from blog-land for so long, but I figured I'd just jump into and update for the sake of an update.

I'm 33 weeks pregnant.  I look like I'm 43 weeks.  I've hit the "big" time.  People have started asking me how much longer I have and then try to hide the surprise when I say seven weeks, because clearly they were expecting me to say 1 or 2.  I've been down this road before - I just get huge.  It's happened with all three now.  I don't know if it's because I'm short, or because I carry really low, or what.  But I just get huge.

But other than that I feel pretty good most of the time.  I haven't had any back pain with this pregnancy like I did with Londyn, for which I am VERY grateful.  I am taking things pretty easy.  I spent a lot of time during my second trimester getting things ready - room painted, crib set up, shopping done, etc.  And I'm glad I did because I have pretty much run out of energy for that sort of thing.

We had an ultrasound on Friday and got another little peak at the babe.  All looks well.  He's measuring just about right on for my August 17th due date.

The girls are very excited about getting to meet their brother.  Londyn asked yesterday how much longer until he comes and I told her seven weeks.  She got all excited and ran to tell Jacey that the baby was coming in seven days.  I had to correct her and tell her seven weeks - she was pretty deflated.  I guess she thinks I'm closer than I really am too.

In other family news, Jacey finished the school year at the end of May.  She had an absolutely fantastic experience in Kindergarten and I'm so grateful.  Her teacher was new to the school this year so I had no idea going into the year what to expect.  I was more than pleasantly surprised.  She was a wonderful teacher and Jacey just adored her.  Jacey did really well in school and has really developed a love for reading and, even more, for writing.  I love reading the stories she writes for me.  She is still taking a nap every day after lunch and I am trying to decide when and how to wean her off of that.  I keep delaying it.  First I said after her birthday . . . then after school let out . . . then after our vacation . . . now I'm trying to decide what is the minimum amount of time I can get away with before school starts at the end of August.

Jacey and Londyn both have been loving playing outside this summer.  This past week is the first really "hot" weather we've had.  (I qualify "hot" because I grew up in Las Vegas and I know that 91* is not actually hot.)  We've also been enjoying going on our annual Summer Field Trips with the Driscolls.  So far we've been to the Clark Planetarium, the International Peace Gardens, and on a tour of Sweet Candy Factory.  Still on the agenda:  Kennecott Copper Mine tour, splash pad play-time, and making pizzas at the California Pizza Kitchen.  We're not doing as many this year as we have in years past, but the kids are still really enjoying them and having fun with their cousins.

Tennis lessons are also back in full swing, this year including Londyn.  Will is so good and patient with them, and they beg for "tennis nights" as often as possible.  Swimming lessons will start next week, which they're also excited about.  My sister always says how much she loves summer and having her kids at home.  This was before I had a kid in school, and I thought she was nuts.  But I get it now.  It is relaxed and fun and just a more easy pace.  I'm loving having Jacey home too.  She'll start first grade about a week after the baby comes, and then a week after that Londyn will start preschool two days a week.  In some ways I'm looking forward to that return of routine and schedule, and obviously I'm looking forward to meeting this baby boy, but I'm also really enjoying these summer days with my girls.

Swollen feet aside, I love summer as much as the kids do.

Hey if the baby isn't due until the 17th I think you can still make it to Massacre Rocks. Ya!

I always love your updates. You and Marie are so cute to do those little field trips with your kiddos. I can't believe you only have 7 weeks by the way! That may sound long to you and Londyn, but wowsers, that is going to be here in 2 seconds (or 7 weeks, but it will feel like 2 seconds)!

Also, AMEN to the qualifying of hotness. I am in Vegas right now, and I do not remember it being this hot. Get me out of here!

When I saw you updated, I wondered if you had your baby yet. Sorry to be another person thinking you should be due sooner:) But, enjoy your 7 weeks!! I am amazed that Jaycee still will nap. I think that is awesome:)
